Indianapolis Colts v. Arizona Cardinals Raffle

Everyone who has registered for a season has been entered into a raffle for 2 NFL Preseason tickets for the Colts vs. Cardinal game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, August 17 at 7pm. Players will have one entry per season they have signed up for. The winner will be announced on July 30th!

Registration for the next season of League Joe has opened. The deadline is Monday, July 29th, just in time for the draft and first games on Tuesday, July 30th. Games will still be played at the Fitness Farm (2525 W 44th St, Indianapolis, IN 46228) at 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

Player Code of Conduct reminder and rules reminders

If this is your first season doing or playing in Speakeasy Soccer, I would like to introduce you to our player conduct standards and rules that make our league unique. 

1. Players should be respectful to one another at all times. We have players of all levels and walks of life participating in our league, that means sometimes players will make mistakes.
I ask the you keep in mind that they are just trying to enjoy the game, learn and get back in shape. Harassment behavior (name calling, cursing at or otherwise being rude) will not be
tolerated. We are building a community and you never know who will be on your team next session! 

2. Our referees are protected people on the pitch, yelling, cursing crowding a referee will result in cards and dismissal from the league. If you have a problem with officating, have a civil 
conversation with your captain, the ref or myself. Do not degrade, insult or intimidate a ref. We have had no issues to date in our other leagues, don't be the first. 

3.League Specific Rules 

• Coed 5v5
• 1 of the minority gender on the field at all times (woman if a team is all men or men if a team is majority women) 
• No sliding 
• No Off-sides
• 5th Foul results in a PK 
• Ref has final word on sporting efforts. Meaning they may decide an action was egregious or negatively affecting play and award penalties or goals as they see fit. We have not had to use this
  type of enforcement before but we have seen examples in other leagues. Do your best not to be an example in future league emails.  
  • Example: There is 20 seconds left in a game, a penalty is called and the opposing team punts the ball to run out the clock. The Referee may issue red cards, award a goal or declare forfeit
    for unsporting behavior. We will not reward poor sporting behavior
  • Example 2: A team is tied and is outmatched - to attempt to stop the other team from scoring they repeatedly foul the star offensive player for the other team. Accepting the penalties but running down the clock. A ref may award a PK and cards to directly address the underhanded tactics

I wanted to update you that, as of our 6/25 game, we will be formally moving to the Fitness Farm for our games. The fitness farm offers more regularly maintained field space and less used field space on a day-to-day basis. The Fitness farm is 5 minutes from our current location at the Healthplex. The fitness farm is part of the same parent organization as Healthplex and we thank the entire Healthplex team for assisting us with our move effort to our new location, 

The field location is at (2525 W 44th St) - please plan to park

League - 

Registration for season 3 has opened! I have migrated all teams to this season's roster list, so you should be able to register for your team immediately. (https://app.teamlinkt.com/register/go/speakeasysoccerinc1/63534). Something to note: Each team will only have 10 jerseys during this session. You will have the option to order additional jerseys for your team if you want. You can also order completely custom jerseys for your team at an additional cost. 

The league will run from the 2nd week of July to the middle of August (6 weeks). We will do a promotion/relegation at the end of this season based on what teams stick around
for next season! 

Jersey orders will go out the last week of June! If you have not registered by that date, we will not be able to guarantee you a jersey for the next session. If all teams stick around, we have room for 2 more/new teams next session! 

Ban List Sharing Notification -

We are now sharing a ban list with OTW, players banned from there or in our league due to violent, sexist or racist actions will not be welcome to play in either of our leagues. 

Welp, guess our first night of soccer is a wash.  We will delay the start of the league by one week and hope for better weather next Tuesday. But that doesn't mean we can't still have a good time this evening....

Draft Party at Half Litre in Broad Ripple

Rather than letting the whole evening go to waste, we're still going to do the player draft in order to get the teams set to start play next week. We will be meeting at 7pm at Half Litre and will draft the teams live. If you would like to come hang out, meet your fellow players (and competition!), and grab a bite and a beer - all are welcome!

It is time to kick off the Speakeasy Soccer League at Indy Healthplex!  This is our first official DRAFT LEAGUE here at Indy Healthplex so get ready to experience rec soccer in a new way.  Here's how it works.

The Spirit of the League

We have players of all differing skills. Some of you played in college and play many times per week. Some of you haven't kicked a ball since youth but are looking to get fit and make new friends. Everyone is welcome, and teams will be balanced so that all squads have a couple Pros and a couple Joes.

To maximize your fun, come to the league ready to embrace this dynamic and emphasize the social experience on the field. For the better players - be ready to coach and lift up the novices, and stay positive when mistakes are made. For the novices - just give it your all and do your best to learn and grow as the season progresses!

The Player Draft / Team Selection

Tomorrow at 6:00pm at Indy Healthplex, we will gather our coaches together to complete the player draft. They will have to navigate salary caps to build a capable team on the fields. If you would like to come and watch the process and see where you get picked, you are welcome to join us in the Indy Healthplex concession area.

When you arrive at the Indy Healthplex complex, you will drive deep into the parking lot until you see fields on the left hand side. If you wish to watch the draft, enter the Main Entrance and find us in the cafe to the left of the check-in desk.

Week One Games - Preseason

After the conclusion of the draft, we will all instantly hit the fields to complete our games. The first game will start at 6:30 and the second at 7:30. If you end up drafted onto a team that plays at 7:30, you will be welcome to use the fields for kick around, warm up, and to get to know your fellow players.

Week One will officially be a Preseason Friendly which means the results will not count in the overall standings.  So use this as an opportunity to get to know one another, knock off some rust, and start to figure out your teammates.

The After Party

Nothing says team bonding like a cold beverage after the games. We are currently working on lining up the best local spot to head to after the games, so stay tuned!
